Professional gutter repair
Sealing
Each 5-10 years the corners, seams, end caps and outlets of your gutters should be resealed. If the sealing of the gutters is compromised look for signs of leaks – there would be watermarks on your foundation or damage to wood (green spots, appearance of moss).
Flashing
To prevent water leaking behind the gutter and the pooling at the foundation the flashing should be installed under the roof and down the back of the gutter.
Downspouts
One of the most important tasks is to keep water away from the foundation. The downspout extensions should extend at least 2′ from your foundation and graded to move water away.
If your downspouts are part of an underground drainage system, you must ensure unobstructed water flow and be sure there aren’t any blockages causing a back-up.
If you remove the downspouts from an underground drainage system, be sure to stop the access of water or animals through closing or cementing it.
Holes or Corrosion of Gutters
The life of your gutters can be extended through preventing leaking. An installation of a patch over holes or corroded gutters is at first glance something simple, but its placement on time can save many resources and problems.
Ice Damming
With time ice damming puts a burden and damages on your gutter system. The gutters hanged, detached from the façade and they are no longer properly pitched and reliable, even dangerous. An installation of a heating cable solves the problem with the heavy ice damming – the gutters are protected and maintain the proper flow of the water.
